Larry Adair - Past Chairman
Larry was Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 2001 to 2004, serving for 22 years in the House. He served on every House committee and chaired the Transportation, Education, Veterans and Military Affairs committees. In 2004, he established the Larry Adair Lectureship Series in Government and Public Policy at NSU, as well as an endowed scholarship. Adair graduated from NSU in 1969 with bachelor's degrees in Language Arts and Business Administration. He served two years in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam. In 1979, he earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from NSU and taught in Adair County. He was named an NSU Distinguished Alumnus in 2005. Larry is also past president of Arvest Bank in Stilwell. He currently chairs the NSU Foundation board of trustees and serves on the Investment Committee for the Foundation.
Dr. Lynna Hembree Carson
Dr. Lynna Hembree Carson graduated in 1985 from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business, in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Education, and in 1992 with a Master of Science in Education. She then graduated in 2000 from the University of Arkansas with a Ph.D. in Kinesiology. Lynna was an Assistant Professor at Northeastern State University where she served as Assistant Dean of the College of Education, Director of the Field Experiences Internship Program, Director of the GEAR UP Program, severed on multiple NCATE committees, and served as a higher education representative for the Teacher Evaluation Entry Year Program. While Lynna was an undergraduate she was an NSU cheerleader from 1981-1985, was selected as an NSU Calendar Girl, and was an NSU Homecoming Queen Attendant. Lynna is married to Drew Carson, a graduate of Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance and an MBA. Lynna has one daughter, Elleyt Bay Belote. Currently Lynna is serving as a Commissioner for the Cherokee Nation Environmental Protection Commission and has been the varsity cheerleading head coach at Stilwell High School for the past 3 years.
Larry graduated in 1971 from Northeastern State University with a bachelor of science in Accounting. Larry is the owner of Dotson Financial Services, a financial consultation firm. Larry retired as the chief of the Tahlequah Fire Department after 20 years of service. Larry and his wife Linda, a 1972 graduate of Northeastern State University with a bachelor of arts in Education, reside in Tahlequah, OK. In 2004, Larry was inducted into the Northeastern State University Athletic Hall of Fame. As a kicker at Northeastern State University in the early '70s Larry set many school records, several of which still stand today. Larry is also a member of the Tahlequah Industrial Trust Authority and serves on the Investment and Executive Committee for the NSU Foundation Board.
Mike Fine is the founder and CEO of Fine Airport Parking. His contagious energy and seemingly unstoppable flow of new ideas have helped grow Fine Airport Parking into one of Tulsa's premier locally-owned businesses. Mike was born and raised in Tulsa, and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1966. He earned a Bachelor's degree in 1970 from Northeastern State University, where he was awarded the Citation of Merit by the NSU Alumni Association in 1993. Mike and his wife Sherry, who attended the University of Arkansas, reside in Bixby, OK.
Dr. Jim Gore
Jim graduated from Northeastern State University in 1991 with a bachelor of science in Chemistry. Jim went on to receive his D.D.S. degree from the University of Oklahoma and is a practicing dentist in Pryor, OK, where he and his wife Becky reside. Becky is also a Northeastern State University graduate who received her bachelor of science in Political Science in 1991. While at Northeastern State University, both Jim and Becky were members of the President’s Leadership Class, and they are now both Life Members of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association, where Jim served as president in 2002. As a student at Northeastern State University, Jim was named the Outstanding Senior in 1991. Jim also serves on the Executive and Investment Committee of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
Jim is a University of Oklahoma graduate with a bachelor of arts in History and a master of arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. Jim retired as the vice president of Administration from Northeastern State University in 2003 after 25 years of service. Jim is also a U.S. Air Force veteran. Jim has been involved with numerous organizations during his time in Tahlequah, including the Rotary Club, the Boys and Girls Club of Tahlequah, Tahlequah Public Schools Foundation, and the Indian Nations Soccer Club. Jim and his wife Lynn, a 1975 graduate of Northeastern State University, reside in Tahlequah, OK. Both Jim and Lynn are Life Members of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association. Jim serves on the Executive Committee and chairs the Investment Committee of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
Bill graduated from Northeastern State University in 1969 with a bachelor of science in Business Administration. Bill is the owner of Eastside Abstract Company in Stilwell, OK, where he lives with his wife Linda, who is also a Northeastern State University graduate with a bachelor of science in Business Education. Both Bill and Linda are Life Members of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association. Bill also serves on the Nominating Committee of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
Gary is a 1968 graduate of Northeastern State University with a bachelor of arts in Business Administration and Economics. Gary is a C.P.A. and is the president of Moffitt Parker and Company Accounting Firm in Muskogee, OK. Gary’s wife Carol received both her bachelor's and master's degrees in Education from Northeastern State University.
Wellon is a 1984 graduate of Northeastern State University with a bachelor of arts in Political Science. Wellon went on to attend the University of Oklahoma where he earned his law degree. In January of 2005, Wellon argued the constitutionality of Oklahoma’s primary election system before the United States Supreme Court. Wellon's private law practice focuses on representation of government officals. Wellon’s wife Kim received her doctor of Optometry from Northeastern State University in 1991. Both Wellon and Kim are Life Members of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association.
Dr. Denise Spears-Roddy - Chairman
Denise is a proud alumnus of both NSU and NSUOCO. She has been in private practice in Tulsa since 1989, and for the past 12 years has built a successful specialty in medically necessary contacts lens treatment. Denise is the proud mother of two--Grant & Kate Roddy. Denise is an avid golfer (a sport she took up at the Tahlequah City Golf Course while in optometry school). Her bucket list includes a private pilot’s license at age 50, and to have a full summer to explore Europe with her daughter.
Patty graduated from Northeastern State University in 1976 with a bachelor of arts degree in Music Education. Patty, along with her husband Randy are owners of Tahlequah Lumber Company and Pryor Lumber Company. She is a Lifetime Member of the NSU Alumni Association and received the NSU Citation of Merit Award in 1990. Patty has served on the Tahlequah Public School Foundation and currently sits on the Board of the Tahlequah City Hospital Foundation. Patty also chairs the Nominating Committee of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
Darrell Sullenger - Secretary/Treasurer
Darrell graduated from Northeastern State University in 1952 with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration. While at NSU, he was active in the Phi Lambda Chi Fraternity as well as NSU Athletics. Darrell is a current member of the NSU Athletic Association and was inducted into the NSU Hall of Fame. He is a Life Member of the NSU Alumni Association. Darrell also serves on the Investment and Audit Committees of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
Dan graduated from Northeastern State University in 1985 with a bachelor of science in Business Administration. Dan resides in Tulsa, OK, where he represents District 71 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Dan currently serves as the State House Majority Leader. He is a Life Member of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association, and serves on the Investment Committees of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
Maurice is a 1948 graduate of Northeastern State University with a bachelor of arts in Math and Business Administration. Maurice furthered his education by earning a master's degree in Education from the University of Houston in 1954. Maurice and his wife Clarice, who earned a bachelor of science in History from Oklahoma State University in 1965, have resided in Tahlequah, OK, since their retirement in 1985. In 2000, Maurice was honored by the Northeastern State University Alumni Association as an Outstanding Alumnus. Maurice and Clarice are both Life Members of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association and are very involved in the Tahlequah community. Maurice sits on several boards including the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, and the Historic Thompson House. Maurice serves on the Executive and Investment committees and chairs the Audit Committee of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
Gregg graduated from Northeastern State University in 1969 with a bachelor of science in Math and Physics. Gregg worked in the oil industry until 1989 when he founded DataCom Sciences Inc. Gregg sold the company to the Chickasaw Nation in 2003, where he is now the executive vice president. Gregg is a member of Oklahoma Venture Forum, Native American Cultural Authority, and is the president and founder of the Oklahoma City Chapter of the American Indian Chamber of Commerce. Gregg and his wife Betsy reside in Oklahoma City, OK. Gregg is a Life Member of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association and was honored by the association as an Outstanding Alumnus in 2004. Gregg also serves on the Nominating Committee of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
Craig graduated from Northeastern State University in 1992 with a BBA (Accounting Major) and served as the PLC President during the 1990-1991 academic year. After graduating from NSU, Craig and his wife Shelley (a 1993 NSU graduate) moved to Tulsa where Craig began his career with Samson Investment Company, one of the largest private independent oil and gas companies in the country. Craig moved into the Production Marketing group and moved up to become General Manager where he led a group responsible for the connection and contracting of over a Bcf per day of gas within a billion dollar per year drilling and operating environment. He also coordinated Samson’s financial hedging program for natural gas, crude oil and natural gas liquids. In 2011, Craig was one of 25 individuals selected by Samson’s Executive Team to participate on a team that orchestrated the $7.2B sale of the company to a private equity group led by KKR out of NYC. After nearly 20 years, Craig retired from Samson in December 2012 in order to spend more time with Shelley and their two children, Bailey and Brenden. Craig is currently active managing his Energy Marketing company, reviewing future business opportunities and volunteering as CFO for his church. Craig also serves on the Investment Committee of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board.
